Seed — From the Dark Era to the Green Future
Our readers will be well aware by now of the efforts we have spent in the last few weeks and months to create a story for Lumi World that is rich and deep. Designed to be close to the heart and touch the specific points that evoke enjoyment and create a connection with the players, our complete gameplay is centered around this complex, tragic yet relieving story.
If you have read our blogs, you will know that in Lumi World, agriculture is the primary activity of the residents (called Lumiers). As people of a new world that rely on growing plants and crops, seeds have a special place in their lives. But how come this change occurs and why are these small plant growing seeds so important to Lumiers? Let’s revisit the Lumi World history a bit.
Rebirth of Lumi World
Lumi is actually our world, in an alternate timeline. Set in the future, Lumi wasn’t the happy and peaceful world we know today. Humans, with their greed and lust for power and wealth, had stripped the lands bare. Resources were already scarce and we continued to mine these, without caring what we were doing to the earth. Soon, the efforts for gathering resources got so intense, it led to wars between nations.
The world was at the brink of total destruction and humans were nearly wiped out. Out of all this, a few brave men and women decided that they should do everything in their power to save humanity from itself by finding alternate sources of energy. It took time, but they eventually found one.
Lumirium was the first non-physical element ever discovered. The non-corporeal element’s discovery completely changed the world. It was found that it bonded perfectly with plants. Lumirium gave plants new life and resilience, now able to be grown on lands poisoned by humanity. Even the life expectancy of the Lumirium infused plants increased by a thousandfold.
Thanks to Lumirium, vegetation could grow again and the mother earth lived once again. Deeply affected by this, humans abandoned their greed and wars and turned towards becoming farmers. Food was abundant and there was no more need to fight among themselves anymore.
The Seeds of Life
Plants infused with Lumirium were the miracle that humanity was looking for. The strange properties of the element were then transferred into the seeds. Now, different seed varieties exist that offer farmers the ability to grow rare and exotic plants that offer high yields and new varieties of fruits.
Within Lumi World, there are two basic distinctions of these seeds.
Short Day Seeds
These are seeds that can give plants to be harvested once. Different varieties of shrubs, crops, fruit plants, aquatic ones, mushrooms and desert plants are grown by Short Day seeds. Once mature, farmers can harvest these from their lands and either sell them in the market or store them to accumulate a large quantity which can then be used to mint new NFT based items in the Factory.
Once the land is cleared from the harvest, farmers can plant new Short Day Seeds they can acquire from seedboxes.
Long Day Seeds
Unlike Short Day seeds, Long Day seeds are only of fruit-bearing plants. Once matured and grown, these plants and trees can continue to give fruit or seeds every harvest. There is no need for the farmers to harvest the complete plant and regrow. Infused with Lumirium, these plants can give rise to different seed varieties, thanks to the mutation chances. This gives farmers the opportunity to harvest special varieties of seeds that are rare and scarce. Thanks to the non-physical element, the lives of the trees grown from Long Day seeds are eternal and they never die.
Like the harvest of Short Day seeds, seeds and fruits harvested from these plants can be sold in the market or collected to mint NFTs in the Factory.
Thanks to the Lumirium infused seeds, the world of Lumi has recovered. Once it was a dark era, but today, it is a green future.
